Go Nuts This Lunar New Year with Nutkins!

Lunar New Year (or Chinese New Year) is fast approaching and we all know that it means visiting family and friends as well as feasting on all the delicious goodies! But as we become more health-conscious as a society, here’s a snack that you can go nuts with (all puns intended) this Lunar New Year with local-inspired flavours such as Black Pepper Crab and Baked Prawn.

Inspiration for the flavours

The Nutkins is the latest low-calorie snack brought to you by the same guys behind The Kettle Gourmet. Zac Chua, the Founder and CEO of The Nutkins and The Kettle Gourmet, wanted to disrupt the traditional snack and peanut industry with modern branding and flavours. Zac shared that they found out with The Kettle Gourmet that offering local flavours allow customers to easily relate to them. “More importantly, we learnt that there’s a huge demand for novel products so we’ve decided with an only local-flavour concept,” Zac added. There are plans to have more exciting local flavours to come and we at The Wellness Insider can’t wait for them!

Baked Prawn flavoured The Nutkins

Healthier than your average peanut snack

Despite not qualifying for the Health Promotion Board’s Healthy Pyramid logo, The Nutkins contain no trans fats and are non-GMO. Thus, they do not brand themselves as ‘healthy nuts’ but they dare say that they’re more flavourful than most traditional competitors. That is probably why The Nutkins has already enjoyed pre-sales success with over 12,000 bags sold via corporate partnerships with companies such as Redmart, Honestbee and Singapore Petroleum, to name a few.

Going beyond Singapore

Although The Nutkins are presently only available in Singapore, there are plans to distribute the snacks overseas. Zac shared that they’re currently speaking to a few distributors in Hong Kong, Philippines and Vietnam but nothing has been fixed yet. Thus, those overseas can keep your fingers crossed that these nuts will pop over to where you live!

In the meanwhile, do remember not to go crazy over all the Lunar New Year snacks and remember to indulge in small amounts!
