Most future mums start thinking about getting their body back as soon as the first baby weight appears. And as their baby grows, there are a lot of insecurities that come with that, along with a lot of questions: How much weight will I lose at childbirth? Will I be able to get my figure back? And the most frequent one: Do you deserve a mommy makeover day? Now, answers to these questions differ from woman to woman, but there are some easy ways most mums can use to get their body back after they have given birth. So let’s see what these are.
This might seem impossible in the first month or two when you are on the baby’s schedule of eating, sleeping and pooping. But it is as important that you find a bit of time for yourself, so start taking walks, start with 30 minutes a day, and then go up to an hour. Your partner can watch your little one, and you can time it between the feedings. You can get your girlfriends to join you so that you can catch up, but it is important to keep moving. That way, you will wake up your body, and your muscles will stay in shape. Later on, as the baby grows, you’ll need a lot of stamina to keep up, and that is why it is important to start slowly and build up.

Adapt your life space
The first year of baby’s life will have to revolve around them, and so there won’t be a lot of time left to go to the gym or return to your regular fitness regimen, nor should you, your body needs to heel and you shouldn’t overdo it. Getting new exercise equipment for your home is a great option as you can choose exactly the gear you need to get back in shape. That way you will listen to your body, and slowly get back on track. Don’t rush it. If you exercise regularly, the baby weight will come off at a healthy rate. Do remember to check with your doctor as to when you can start exercising.
Make changes to your nutrition plan
Breastfeeding takes a lot of energy, and you need to have a good nutritional plan so that your body gets all the nutrients and that you provide the right nutrients to your baby as well. So prepare to be hungry at odd hours and have a bunch of cravings, much like you had during pregnancy. But the important thing is to do your best and when that happens, opt for a healthy snack that won’t build up fat in your body but rather supply you with enough energy. Also of for a more diverse nutritional plan introducing a lot of vegetables and fruit, but don’t cut off carbs completely since you will need the energy.
Try to squeeze in enough naps
Getting enough rest is essential for your body to recuperate after childbirth. Yes, it does seem impossible with a newborn, but you should try to get at least one afternoon nap so that you can help your metabolism get back on track and help you lose the weight. The best option is to try to nap when your baby naps, that will help you keep your energy levels up and lower the food cravings that are the result of your body’s lack of energy.
These are some easy to follow tips for getting the baby weight off. Remember, to pace yourself and listen to your body. Take it one day at the time and avoid any quick-fix solutions, both you and your baby need quality nutrition, rest and energy.
